"PAINTINGS IN THE VILLA,
THE VILLA IN THE PAINTINGS"
Three canvases painted after Villa Ciao Cocoa, in Liguria — a house without walls, created by Ilona Golovko.
In Liguria, right on the French border, there is a house that gave up its walls. In their place, curtains. The wind passes straight through them, the sea looks inside, and beneath the open roof a crystal chandelier sways under the open sky — like a touch of luxury that agreed to live outdoors.
Here you don’t hide from the world: you live in the middle of nature. I painted three corners of a single house. It wasn’t the place that held me, but what it does to the light: the way it catches on the crystal, fills the white fabric, and settles — just once — on a living flower.
Three canvases. One gaze.
PANEL I
Le mimosa
A bedroom without walls: in their place, sheer curtains rippling on every side. On the chair, mimosa; on the ceiling, chandeliers of glass and metal.
PANEL II
Le vent
A bathroom open to the sea: the curtain lifts in the wind, and the horizon reaches right into the water.
PANEL III
La mer
A crystal chandelier lowered into the foliage — and behind it, all the way to the horizon, nothing but the sea.
